We’ve been busy for several months, making some big changes to our little townhouse. I have it on good authority that a few people have been waiting patiently for a virtual house tour, so here goes!
We started last fall (before I moved in), when Robby’s parents came out from Mississippi to help us paint the walls.
Our next step was refinishing the kitchen cabinets. We spent weeks taking them from their lovely 80′s gloss to a nice crisp white. Refinishing the cabinets required gallons of varnish stripper, hours of sanding, tons of primer, and about 3 coats of oil-based paint. Oh, and let’s not forget the trips to multiple Home Depot locations when the one near us decided to discontinue the brand of paint we were using…sheesh.
Next, we put down laminate flooring throughout the first floor to replace the carpet and the vinyl floor in the kitchen. We started by ripping up the carpet, chipping up the tiles in the entryway, and pulling off the old baseboards. Then we taped down a plastic vapor barrier and a layer of soundproofing foam. After that, laying down the floor planks went pretty quickly. Painting, cutting, and nailing down the new baseboards took a lot longer.
Along the way, we got a new leather sectional. It takes up a big part of the living room, but I love it. So does Lucy, as you can see.
Finally, we rearranged the furniture to create a little office nook for me. I like to sit at my desk to make grocery lists, organize my calendar, or surf the web with Mabel, my shiny new silver MacBook.
Thanks for taking a virtual trip through our home! We love it and hope you like it, too
